Buttermilk Pound Cake

Total Time: 1 hr 40 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 6 eggs
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Recipe

  • 1 be sure to reserve 1 cup sugar for the egg whites.
  • 2 separate egg yolks and whites.
  • 3 mix all ingredients except whites.
  • 4 beat egg whites and add 1 cup sugar continuing to beat until the whites are stiff.
  • 5 gently fold the beaten egg whites into the cake batter.
  • 6 bake in 350 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours or until done.
