Black Forest Brownie Torte

Total Time: 1 hr 15 mins Preparation Time: 25 mins Cook Time: 50 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1 (19 7/8 ounce) brownie mix
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 21 ounces cherry pie filling
  • 2 cups cool whip
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds, toasted

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350.
  • 2 grease and frour two 9" round pans.
  • 3 prepare brownie mix according to pkg directions for cake like brownies.
  • 4 stir chocolate chips into batter.
  • 5 divide batter evenly between prepared pans.
  • 6 bake 18-20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • 7 cool 10 minutes in pans.
  • 8 loosen edges and remove from pans.
  • 9 cool completely.
  • 10 stir almond extract into cherry pie filling.
  • 11 place one brownie onto serving plate.
  • 12 top with 1 1/2 cups cool whip.
  • 13 spread 1 cup cherry pie filling over cool whip.
  • 14 top with second brownie layer.
  • 15 spread remaining cherry filling over top.
  • 16 decorate with dollop of cool whip.
  • 17 sprinkle with sliced almonds.
