Bread Pudding With Lemon Sauce

Total Time: 16 hrs Preparation Time: 15 hrs Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 8 slices dry bread
  • 4 cups milk, scalded
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice, fresh,frozen or bottle

Recipe

  • 1 for pudding:.
  • 2 soak bread in milk 5 minutes.
  • 3 add sugar, butter and salt.
  • 4 pour slowly over eggs.
  • 5 add vanilla and mix well.
  • 6 pour into greased 1 1/2 quart baking dish.
  • 7 bake over pan of hot water in oven at 350 degrees until firm, about 1 hour.
  • 8 for sauce:.
  • 9 mix sugar,flour and salt; add water and cook over low heat until thick.
  • 10 add butter and lemon juice.
