Bread Pudding With Lemon Sauce

Ingredients

- 8 slices dry bread
- 4 cups milk, scalded
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 dash salt
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice, fresh,frozen or bottle
Recipe
- 1 for pudding:.
- 2 soak bread in milk 5 minutes.
- 3 add sugar, butter and salt.
- 4 pour slowly over eggs.
- 5 add vanilla and mix well.
- 6 pour into greased 1 1/2 quart baking dish.
- 7 bake over pan of hot water in oven at 350 degrees until firm, about 1 hour.
- 8 for sauce:.
- 9 mix sugar,flour and salt; add water and cook over low heat until thick.
- 10 add butter and lemon juice.
