Buttermilk Pound Cake Loaf

Ingredients

- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
Recipe
- 1 in a large bowl, beat shortening and sugar until smooth.
- 2 add vanilla.
- 3 add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
- 4 in another bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- 5 alternately add flour mixture and buttermilk, a little at a time into shortening mixture until blended.
- 6 pour into a greased and flour 9 x 5 inch loaf pan.
- 7 bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.
