Caramel Custard

Total Time: 1 hr 30 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Recipe

  • 1 place 1 cup of sugar in a heavy pan.
  • 2 stir sugar at low heat until it is liquid and light golden brown.
  • 3 pour caramelized sugar evenly into six warm custard cups.
  • 4 set cups aside.
  • 5 place milk and cinnamon stick in a medium sized saucepan.
  • 6 scald milk at medium heat and allow to cool.
  • 7 beat eggs until foamy.
  • 8 gradually add remaining sugar to eggs and beat well.
  • 9 gradually add scalded milk to egg mixture, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  • 10 add vanilla.
  • 11 pour mixture into caramel lined cups.
  • 12 place cups in a pan of hot water and baked in a 350 degrees f oven for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
