Buttermilk Pecan Brownies With Sour Cream Frosting

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped toasted pecans
  • 5 ounces semisweet chocolate, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • chocolate curls (optional)
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups sifted powdered sugar

Recipe

  • 1 grease 13x9x2 inch baking pan; set aside.
  • 2 in medium saucepan melt 1 cup butter over low heat. cool slightly.
  • 3 stir sugar and brown sugar into melted butter.
  • 4 add eggs, one at a time, beat by hand until just combined.
  • 5 stir in buttermilk and vanilla.
  • 6 stir together flour and baking soda.
  • 7 add flour mixture to to egg mixture and stir until just combined.
  • 8 divide batter into two equal portions.
  • 9 stir pecans into one portion and spread this part of batter into prepared pan.
  • 10 bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
  • 11 stir melted chocolate and cinnamon into remaining batter, blend well.
  • 12 spread chocolate batter over partially baked brownies.
  • 13 continue baking about 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • 14 cool completely.
  • 15 meanwhile, prepare frosting by beating sour cream, 1/4 cup butter, and vanilla in electric mixer on low speed until smooth.
  • 16 gradually add powdered sugar, beat on low speed until smooth and spreadable.
  • 17 frost cooled brownies and garnish with chocolate curls if prefer.
