Buttermilk Pecan Brownies With Sour Cream Frosting

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/3 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup finely chopped toasted pecans
- 5 ounces semisweet chocolate, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- chocolate curls (optional)
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 cups sifted powdered sugar
Recipe
- 1 grease 13x9x2 inch baking pan; set aside.
- 2 in medium saucepan melt 1 cup butter over low heat. cool slightly.
- 3 stir sugar and brown sugar into melted butter.
- 4 add eggs, one at a time, beat by hand until just combined.
- 5 stir in buttermilk and vanilla.
- 6 stir together flour and baking soda.
- 7 add flour mixture to to egg mixture and stir until just combined.
- 8 divide batter into two equal portions.
- 9 stir pecans into one portion and spread this part of batter into prepared pan.
- 10 bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
- 11 stir melted chocolate and cinnamon into remaining batter, blend well.
- 12 spread chocolate batter over partially baked brownies.
- 13 continue baking about 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- 14 cool completely.
- 15 meanwhile, prepare frosting by beating sour cream, 1/4 cup butter, and vanilla in electric mixer on low speed until smooth.
- 16 gradually add powdered sugar, beat on low speed until smooth and spreadable.
- 17 frost cooled brownies and garnish with chocolate curls if prefer.
