Basic Gingerbread Dough

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 250 g butter, at room temp
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 cup golden syrup
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 5 cups plain flour
  • 2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Recipe

  • 1 place butter, syrup and yolks in a big bowl.
  • 2 beat till creamy using electric mixer.
  • 3 stir in all other ingredients.
  • 4 using your hands bring the dough together.
  • 5 knead on a lightly floured surface until smooth.
  • 6 set aside for whatever project you have in mind - will make one house or 24 cookies !
