Amanda's Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • Servings: 15
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 cups french bread, cut into bite-sized chunks
  • 3/4 cup raisins
  • pecans (optional)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 5 ounces evaporated milk
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3/4 cup whiskey

Recipe

  • 1 grease a 9 x 13-inch pan. scald the milk and the half and half. add the 1/2 stick butter and the 1/2 cup sugar. pour over the four cups of french bread, raisins and pecans. let sit for 15 minutes.
  • 2 whisk together eggs, vanilla nutmeg and cinnamon. pour over bread mixture. bake for 350 degree for 45 minutes.
  • 3 to make the whiskey sauce over medium heat the 1 stick of butter, 1 cup sugar, evaporated milk and egg yolk. remove from heat and then stir in 3/4 cup of whiskey.
