Carolyn's Apple Pudding Cake

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 4 -6 apples, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons shortening, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • cinnamon sugar (optional)
  • whipped cream (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350*.
  • 2 slice apples, with or without the peel, to fill a casserole dish.
  • 3 sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon and water.
  • 4 in a medium bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt. set aside.
  • 5 in a small bowl or shaker, combine vanilla, egg, melted shortening and milk.
  • 6 add to the flour mixture and beat until smooth, then pour over the apples.
  • 7 if desired, sprinkle with sugar cinnamon.
  • 8 bake for 1 hour or until golden.
  • 9 serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream.
