Carolyn's Apple Pudding Cake

Ingredients

- 4 -6 apples, sliced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons shortening, melted
- 1/2 cup milk
- cinnamon sugar (optional)
- whipped cream (optional)
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350*.
- 2 slice apples, with or without the peel, to fill a casserole dish.
- 3 sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon and water.
- 4 in a medium bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt. set aside.
- 5 in a small bowl or shaker, combine vanilla, egg, melted shortening and milk.
- 6 add to the flour mixture and beat until smooth, then pour over the apples.
- 7 if desired, sprinkle with sugar cinnamon.
- 8 bake for 1 hour or until golden.
- 9 serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream.
