Boston Cream Cheese Pie

Total Time: 1 hr 30 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 1 (18 ounce) package yellow cake mix
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate squares
  • 3 tablespoons margarine
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Recipe

  • 1 grease bottom of a 9-inch springform pan.
  • 2 prepare cake mix as directed on package; pour batter evenly into springform pan.
  • 3 bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
  • 4 combine cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla, mixing at medium speed on electric mixer until well blended.
  • 5 add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • 6 blend in sour cream; pour over cake layer.
  • 7 bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
  • 8 loosen cake from rim of pan, cool before remiving rim of pan.
  • 9 bring water to a boil in bottom of double boiler.
  • 10 remove from heat.
  • 11 melt chocolate with margarine in top of double boiler, stirring until smooth.
  • 12 add water and remaining ingredients, mix well.
  • 13 spread over cheesecake.
  • 14 chill several hours.
  • 15 garnish with strawberries if desired.
