Butterscotch Squares

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter (it needs to be butter)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • salt
  • vanilla
  • 1/2 cup seedless raisin
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Recipe

  • 1 combine sugar and butter in saucepan. heat slowly stirring constantly until butter is melted and mixture is blended. remove from heat, add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. add dry ingredients,. add vanilla, raisins and nuts. blend thoroughly. spread in 13x9x2-inch pan.
  • 2 bake a 350f for 20-25 minutes.
  • 3 the quicker these squares are in the oven after the mixture is taken off the stove, the lighter the texture. i like them best to put a fine nut on top of icing rather than in squares.
