Butterscotch Squares

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 25 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 drops butter flavoring

Recipe

  • 1 combine sugar, salt, corn syrup and honey in a heavy saucepan and cook over high heat, constantly stirring, until the sugar dissolves.
  • 2 add the vinegar.
  • 3 continue cooking the mixture to 260 degrees f on candy thermometer.
  • 4 add butter and stir until thoroughly mixed.
  • 5 continue cooking to 270 degrees f.
  • 6 remove the pan from heat and stir in the butter flavoring.
  • 7 pour the hot mixture onto buttered cookie sheet.
  • 8 let cool slightly and score into squares.
  • 9 score again on initial score lines.
  • 10 break along score lines when cool.
