Aunt Sherry's Strawberry Cake

Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 (10 ounce) box frozen strawberries, thawed and drained, reserve syrup
  • 1 (18 ounce) box cake mix
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 (3 ounce) box strawberry jell-o gelatin dessert
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature (1 stick)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature (1 package)
  • 2 -3 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons strawberry syrup

Recipe

  • 1 cake.
  • 2 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 3 grease and flour 2 layer cake pans. in small bowl, mix together eggs, oil and water. in large mixer bowl, add flour to cake mix. stir egg mixture, jello, and strawberries into cake mix. beat 2 minutes. pour into prepared pans. bake for 35-40 minutes or until cake tests done. cool in pan and frost.
  • 4 frosting.
  • 5 in a large bowl, beat together the butter and cream cheese with an electric mixer. beat in the strawberry syrup. with the mixer on low speed, add the powdered sugar a cup at a time until smooth and creamy.
