Candy-topped Bars

Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup cold butter
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2-1 cup miniature m&m baking bits

Recipe

  • 1 in a large bowl, combine flour and brown sugar.
  • 2 cut in butter unil mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • 3 stir in pecans.
  • 4 set aside 1/2 cup for topping.
  • 5 press remaining crumb mixture into a greased 9 inch square pan.
  • 6 bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
  • 7 in a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar.
  • 8 add egg, milk, lemon juice, and vanilla.
  • 9 mix well.
  • 10 pour over warm crust.
  • 11 sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture.
  • 12 bake for 25-30 minutes or until set.
  • 13 immediately sprinkle with baking bits.
  • 14 cool on a wire rack. cut into bars and refrigerate leftovers.
