Caramel Streusel Bars

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 24
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cup cold butter or 3/4 cup margarine
  • 3/4 cup nuts, chopped
  • 24 caramels, unwrapped
  • 1 (14 ounce) can condensed milk

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350°.
  • 2 in a large bowl combine flour, brown sugar and egg.
  • 3 cut in 1/2 cup butter.
  • 4 stir in nuts.
  • 5 reserve 2 cups of crumb mixture.
  • 6 press remaining mixtuew firmly in bottom of greased 9 x 13" pan, i use pam baking spray.
  • 7 bake for 15 minutes. remove from oven.
  • 8 in a heavy saucepan over low heat, melt caramels, condensed milk and 1/4 cup remaining butter.
  • 9 cook until smooth.
  • 10 pour over crust.
  • 11 sprinkle evenlly with remaining crumbs.
  • 12 bake for 20 minutes or until bubbly.
  • 13 cool. cut into bars.
  • 14 store loosely covered at room temperature.
