Black Walnut Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup crisco
  • 2 3/4 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons black walnut flavoring (if using extract i use only 1tsp.)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped black walnut
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 2 teaspoons black walnut flavoring
  • 1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese
  • 1 lb confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped black walnut

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 300.
  • 2 grease and flour tube pan.
  • 3 i start at the top and add all items on list one by one until i have it all in the bowl and mix until smooth.
  • 4 bake for 1 hour 35 minutes or until cake tests done.
  • 5 remove from oven and let set 10 minutes.
  • 6 remove cake from pan and let it cool completely.
  • 7 butter cream frosting:.
  • 8 soften margarine and cream cheese. mix together all ingredients except nuts.add flavoring last.if mixture is too thick to spread add a few drops of water. apply to cake then sprinkle with nuts.
