Caramelized Chai Dessert French Toast

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup fat-free half-and-half
  • 1/4 cup chai liqueur
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 5 slices french bread (3/4 inch thick slices)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 10 teaspoons brown sugar, divided
  • vanilla ice cream

Recipe

  • 1 beat eggs, half & half, liqueur, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon in a large shallow dish.
  • 2 add bread slices and let stand for about 2 minutes to absorb mixture. turn and let stand 2 minutes more.
  • 3 melt butter in a large skillet.
  • 4 sprinkle 1 teaspoons brown sugar on each side of bread.
  • 5 cook over medium to medium-high heat for about 2 to 3 minutes per side or until crisp, taking care not to burn sugar. (if sugar begins to burn, wipe out pan with a paper towel).
  • 6 transfer to plates and top with a small scoop of ice cream and a drizzle of liqueur, if you like.
