Butterscotch Crumb Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 4 cups pared cored and sliced tart cooking apples
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pastry shells
  • 6 ounces nestle toll house butterscotch chips
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • whipped cream (optional) or ice cream (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 375 degrees f.

  • 3 mix together apples and lemon juice in a large bowl.
  • 4 in a small bowl, mix together sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt; pour over apples, coating apples well.
  • 5 if using frozen pie shell, use deep-dish type, and bake on cookie sheet for 10 minutes to thaw.
  • 6 pour apples into pie shell.
  • 7 cover edges of pie crust with aluminum foil to prevent burning.
