Buttered Toffee Apple Pie

Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins Preparation Time: 25 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tart apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

Recipe

  • 1 prepare pie crust for 2-crust pie in your usual manner.
  • 2 combine sugar, 1/4 cup corn syrup, 1 t. butter, cornstarch, cinnamon and salt.
  • 3 mix well.
  • 4 mix in apples.
  • 5 heat oven to 425.
  • 6 roll out bottom pie shell and put in 9-inch pan.
  • 7 fill with apples.
  • 8 roll out top pastry and place on filling.
  • 9 seal edges and flute.
  • 10 cut 6 slashes on top crust.
  • 11 bake for 10 minutes.
  • 12 reduce heat to 350 and bake until crust is light golden about 30 minutes.
  • 13 meanwhile make topping by mixing brown sugar, flour, walnuts, 3 t. corn syrup and 3 t. melted butter.
  • 14 remove pie when baked and pour on topping.
  • 15 return to oven for 5 more minutes.
  • 16 cool on wire rack 10 minutes.
  • 17 serve warm.
