1930's Apple And Nut Pie

Total Time: 1 hr 20 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 refrigerated pie crust (1/2 package)
  • 1 1/4 cups light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 3 granny smith apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 450°f
  • 2 fit pie crust into a 9 inch pie plate.
  • 3 prick with a fork and crimp edges.
  • 4 bake about 11 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 5 cool completely.
  • 6 in a large bowl, beat 1 cup of the brown sugar and the flour, butter and walnuts together until crumbly, set aside.
  • 7 arrange half of the apple slices in crust.
  • 8 sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup of sugar on top.
  • 9 add remaining apple slices and top with crumb mixture.
  • 10 reduce oven heat to 350f and bake pie 1 hour or until browned.
