Black Walnut Loaf

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup chopped black walnut
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 -2 tablespoon milk or 1 -2 tablespoon cream
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Recipe

  • 1 beat eggs and sugar. add milk and blend well. sift flour with salt and baking powder and add inches when blended, stir in nuts. pour into greased loaf pan.
  • 2 bake in a preheated 350°f oven for 1 hour. cool in pan 10 minutes, then turn out onto a rack to cool completely.
  • 3 meanwhile, whisk confectioner's sugar with milk, salt and vanilla until smooth. pour over cooled loaf.
