Caramelized Pear Tart

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 lb shortcrust pastry
  • 4 dessert pears
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 1/8 cup milk

Recipe

  • 1 roll out half of your short crust pastry block.
  • 2 smooth the rolled out pastry into the pie dish.
  • 3 cut and prepare the pears into medium sized round circles.
  • 4 pour 1/4 cups of water into a pot then add the pears into the pot.
  • 5 pour all the sugar on top of the pears then add the whole cinnamon stick and the nutmeg.
  • 6 let the pears simmer, so the pears caramelize.
  • 7 pour most of the syrup into a cup.
  • 8 roll out 1/4 peices of the pastry block and cut 6 peices the size of the sandwich tin.
  • 9 pour the pears onto the sandwich dish full of pastry.
  • 10 design a criss cross pattern on to the pears.
  • 11 dip a pastry brush into some milk and run a 1 thin layer of milk over the pastry strips.
  • 12 put in the oven for 15- 25 minutes.
