Caramel Toffee Squares

Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, plus
- 2 teaspoons butter or 2 teaspoons margarine
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Recipe
- 1 bottom layer: crumble flour, sugar and 1/2 cup plus 2 teaspoons butter together.
- 2 pack into ungreased 9x9-inch pan.
- 3 bake in 350°f oven for 20 minutes.
- 4 second layer: combine butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and condensed milk in heavy pot.
- 5 bring to boil over medium heat.
- 6 boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly as it burns easily.
- 7 remove from heat.
- 8 beat with spoon slowly until it shows signs of thickening.
- 9 pour over bottom layer.
- 10 third layer: melt chocolate over hot water.
- 11 pour over second layer.
- 12 chill.
- 13 cut into squares.
