Butterscotch Bars

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine, softened
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • cooking spray
  • 1/2 cup butterscotch chips

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350°.
  • 2 cream sugars and margarine at medium speed until well-blended (about 4 minutes.) add egg whites and vanilla; beat well.
  • 3 lightly spoon flour into measuring cups; level with a knife.
  • 4 combine flour, baking powder and salt; stir well with a whisk.
  • 5 add flour mixture to butter mixture; beat at low speed just until blended.
  • 6 spread batter evenly in an 8" square pan that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
  • 7 sprinkle evenly with butterscotch morsels.
  • 8 bake at 350° for 28-30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • 9 cool and cut into squares.
