Butterscotch Almond Bars

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 35 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 ounce semisweet chocolate
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced almonds

Recipe

  • 1 set oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 grease a 13" x 9" baking dish.
  • 3 combine flour and baking powder; set aside.
  • 4 blend in sugar into melted butter.
  • 5 beat in eggs and vanilla.
  • 6 stir in flour mixture.
  • 7 spread batter into greased prepared baking pan (don't pack down too hard).
  • 8 bake for 20 minutes.
  • 9 remove from oven.
  • 10 to prepare nutty topping: melt butter in small saucepan.
  • 11 add and mix in sugar, cornsyrup, water a salt.
  • 12 bring mixture to boil; boil 4 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • 13 stir in sliced almonds.
  • 14 spread nutty topping evenly over baked crust.
  • 15 bake 15 minutes longer.
  • 16 cool.
  • 17 melt chocolate; drizzle over bars.
  • 18 cut into bars.
