Buttermilk Fruit Sherbet - Basic Recipe And Variations

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups fruit puree
- flavor enhancer, of choice
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups buttermilk (low fat ok)
Recipe
- 1 combine all ingredients except buttermilk.
- 2 chill for several hours.
- 3 beat again until smooth.
- 4 add buttermilk and beat again.
- 5 stir freeze in an ice cream maker according to your manufacturer's directions.
- 6 variations:.
- 7 plum: one of my favorites! puree the fruit with the skins on. this adds flavor and color. add one of the following: 1 teaspoon minced ginger, 2 tablespoons dark rum.
- 8 peach: peel before pureeing. add one of the following: 1 teaspoon minced ginger, 1/2 teaspoon almond extract.
- 9 blueberry: add 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.
- 10 you get the idea. be creative! make up your own combos!
