Black Walnut Pound Cake With Frosting

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 cups cake flour or 3 cups plain flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla flavoring
  • 1 tablespoon black walnut flavoring
  • 1 cup black walnut, chopped
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon black walnut flavoring
  • 1 lb powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup black walnut, chopped
  • milk, if needed

Recipe

  • 1 oven at 325º f.
  • 2 cake:.
  • 3 cream butter and shortening.
  • 4 add sugar and cream together.
  • 5 add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each.
  • 6 add sour cream and mix together.
  • 7 add baking powder to flour.
  • 8 add to creamed mixture, alternating flour mixture and milk.
  • 9 add flavorings and mix well.
  • 10 mix in chopped black walnuts by hand.
  • 11 pour into a greased and floured 10 inch tube pan.
  • 12 bake for 1 hour, turn down oven to 300ºf for 30 minutes more.
  • 13 remove and cool.
  • 14 frosting:.
  • 15 cream butter and cream cheese.
  • 16 add flavoring and powdered sugar.
  • 17 mix nuts in by hand. mix well.
  • 18 put on cooled cake.
