Black Walnut Pound Cake With Frosting

Ingredients

- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 3 cups sugar
- 5 eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 cups cake flour or 3 cups plain flour
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla flavoring
- 1 tablespoon black walnut flavoring
- 1 cup black walnut, chopped
- 1/4 cup butter
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 1 tablespoon black walnut flavoring
- 1 lb powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup black walnut, chopped
- milk, if needed
Recipe
- 1 oven at 325º f.
- 2 cake:.
- 3 cream butter and shortening.
- 4 add sugar and cream together.
- 5 add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each.
- 6 add sour cream and mix together.
- 7 add baking powder to flour.
- 8 add to creamed mixture, alternating flour mixture and milk.
- 9 add flavorings and mix well.
- 10 mix in chopped black walnuts by hand.
- 11 pour into a greased and floured 10 inch tube pan.
- 12 bake for 1 hour, turn down oven to 300ºf for 30 minutes more.
- 13 remove and cool.
- 14 frosting:.
- 15 cream butter and cream cheese.
- 16 add flavoring and powdered sugar.
- 17 mix nuts in by hand. mix well.
- 18 put on cooled cake.
